English is not my first language. Can I still apply for work?

NZ is a great country with diverse cultures and English is not the first language of the majority of people by far.
If you are not the bubbly type in the English language then no problem. As long as you can follow clear instructions in English then you are good to go for most jobs. Only some jobs will require you to be able to communicate well in English where you may need to face clients, but this will normally be specified.
If you do not get it so quick the first time and you can ask for clarification then that is also a great attitude. What you should not do is to say "ya ya ya" while you did not clearly understand.
