Can I work for cash in hand?

In New Zealand, it is generally not illegal to work for cash payment. However, it is important to note that the legality of working for cash depends on the specific circumstances and the obligations that come with it as it is essential for individuals to ensure they comply with tax laws and report their income accurately to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).

It is also advisable for both the employer and employee to have a written agreement outlining the terms and conditions of the work arrangement, regardless of the payment method. Additionally, some industries or occupations may have specific regulations or requirements regarding payment methods, so it is crucial to be aware of any applicable rules in those cases.

As CleaningNZ can not control this, we can not accept Candidates or Employers asking for or offering cash payments.
