As a job seeker, the reason for going to an interview is to get a job. Employers very rarely hire cleaners without first meeting them and getting some feedback. But it’s a great opportunity for you as a cleaner to show off and make a good impression.

Employers hold interviews to assess whether you could be the right person for the job. This means they need to check out your skills, and see if you will fit in well with their company and with their clients). They also will get some clarity on things in your Resume or work history that they are unsure about. Hopefully, your Resume is complete and accurate, and that will make the process a bit easier and your chances of getting the job a bit better.

For anyone who wants a job in the cleaning industries, an interview should be seen as your shot to:

1. Learn more about the job.
2. Find out more about the company and get to see how they do things.
3. Assess whether it meets your requirements for
  • Shifts
  • Distance from your home
  • Pay and perks
  • Seniority level
  • Opportunities for promotion
  • Any other specific things that weren’t included in the job advertisement, or weren’t clear.

4. Talk about your skills.

5. Prove that you can communicate effectively with their clients if they employ you.

6. Ask any questions about things you may be unsure of.

7. Demonstrate why you are the best person for the job.

Make sure that you are prepared for the interview, but keep in mind that it’s an opportunity for both sides to evaluate what they are letting themselves in for. And it could just be your dream job, but you can’t gauge this without an interview.
